Qualifications and Experience
Kemp Anderson received his Bachelors of Arts, cum laude, in 1993 from Hartwick College with honors in History and Environmental Studies. He earned his Associates degree in Applied Science from SUNY Dutchess in 2009 with honors in Architecture. The son of a pioneering “green” builder, he learned about design and construction at an early age- working on two solar homes in Woodstock, NY, and a camp in the Adirondacks. At Hartwick, he continued to develop his concern for aesthetics and design while working in the glass blowing studio on both abstract and functional glassware.
After college Mr. Anderson went to work designing and building adventure courses with Inner Quest Inc., and Project U.S.E. During his time with these companies, he worked on climbing walls and ropes courses at camps and retreat centers throughout the north-east, as well as the tree house for the Outward Bound center in Baltimore. By 2001 his passion for sustainable building had become focused on spaces where people live and work. Working with Winter Sun Construction in New Paltz, NY, he completed several notable renovations to older buildings. These included the Registered Landmark Village Tea Room, and two historic residences on Huguenot Street.
Mr. Andersons’ role at Hudson Design focuses on the design and construction administration of renovations to existing buildings, building code review and compliance, and site planning, including residential wastewater treatment systems.
