Qualifications and Experience
Justin R. Kacur received a Bachelor of Architecture degree (summa cum laude) from the prestigious Pratt Institute School of Architecture in Brooklyn, New York in 1994. He joined Hudson Design in 1995, becoming registered in New York State in 2002.
Early in his career, Mr. Kacur worked as both a carpenter and architectural illustrator, developing a passion for architectural design & construction detailing. Both of these early work experiences have profoundly influenced his design approach ever since.
Between 1999-2000, he worked in the offices of Rhinebeck Architecture & Planning and Arthur Jay Hibbs-Architect where he collaborated on several notable projects including The Colavita Center for Italian Food & Wine at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and the Samuel F.B. Morse Visitor Center at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie, New York., returning to Hudson Design in 2001. He was named Associate Architect in the firm in 2008.
In 2009, Justin’s interest in sustainable design & building practices led him to pursue his goal of becoming a LEED Accredited Professional, reinforcing his belief that all good design should be responsible and responsive to the natural environment.
Mr. Kacur has been the architect & planner for a wide variety of clientele & building types as well as several conceptual masterplans for estates and college campuses. He has been associated with several published and award-winning projects. His most notable projects with Hudson Design have included the Bear Creek Inn at Young Life’s Lake Champion, The Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Family Visitor Center at Sterling Forest State Park, The Heritage House Inn & Conference Center for the Officer’s Christian Fellowship in Manns Choice, Pennsylvania, a private residential sports complex in the Shawangunks, as well as several large scale planned development projects in Upstate New York.
Justin has lived in the Hudson Valley for nearly 40 years. He currently resides in Beacon, New York with his wife and two young children.
