Qualifications and Experience
Published and award winning Architect James M. Copeland began his formal training at the School of Environmental Design in Architecture at North Carolina State University. His early years included mentorship with designer Joseph Amisano in Atlanta and world renowned Environmental Architect Randolph Croxton in New York City. In 1984, Shearson Lehman American Express Corporation selected Mr. Copeland to serve as Director of Facility Planning for the eastern region of the United States. From this capacity he gained recognition for his design and project planning abilities and was chosen to lead the design team and manage project documentation for the World Headquarters of Saatchi Saatchi Compton in Manhattan. Interest in project planning led the Architect to a graduate diploma in Construction Management from New York University in 1993 and the addition of CM services to his burgeoning private practice.
In 1993, Mr. Copeland moved his firm to the Hudson Valley to develop their reputation in recreation, hospitality and residential design work for public and private clients. Under his leadership, the firm has developed an expertise for consulting on projects with unique technical demands and in unique physical environments. In 2004, Mr. Copeland was awarded First Honors for Architectural Excellence from the American Institute of Architects. The Architect resides in Garrison, NY with his wife and four daughters where he serves on the boards of the local Young Life Club and as an active member of Garrison Volunteer Fire Company.
